Fall in Love With Exercise

1. CHOOSE EXERCISES THAT FIT YOUR PERSONALITY.
Do you like to be social? Choose team sports or fun team classes like zumba! Do you need relaxation, and quiet ‘me’ time to think at the end of the working day? How about a session of swimming or yoga? Often, people do not enjoy exercise quite simply because they have not yet found the type of exercise that fits their personality.
2. IT TAKES TIME TO GET INTO THE SWING OF THINGS.
It might take a while to start enjoying exercise, so keep at it! Games of tennis will become much more enjoyable when you have developed a good skill level and a good grasp of the rules, for instance. Not enjoying yoga and it’s only been a few days? Give it time – in the end, you may adore it.
3. DON’T LET EXERCISE DISRUPT YOUR SCHEDULE…
Rather, make it an organic part of your schedule. Finding the most appropriate time to exercise is so important. You don’t want to be regretting the time that you have spend exercising and wishing that you had spent it getting ahead with work or attending a friend’s party. So, make space in your schedule for exercise, and find the time slots that work best for you.
4. DON’T WORRY ABOUT BREAKING THINGS UP!
Does a long two hour exercise session seem daunting to you? No problem! Just break things up a little. Walk to work instead of taking the bus, and that is thirty minutes of exercise done. Add in an hour of swimming at lunch and thirty minutes of jogging or squash with a friend and that’s your two hours done in a day! You might even include dancing in a salsa club at night as thirty minutes of exercise – what a fun way to break things up and work out!
5. STAY MOTIVATED AND KEEP GOING.
Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a scheduled gym day, or if you don’t manage your full hour in the pool. The important thing here is not to give up and abandon your exercise regimen but rather to keep on going. That doesn’t mean that you should endlessly procrastinate, telling yourself that you will go to the gym tomorrow instead of today, and in the end never going at all! But it does mean that there is a difference between being strict with, and super critical of, yourself, and staying motivated. So, be a little flexible with your exercise if this helps you to keep going with it.
